Into the Wee Hours

As can be expected when in college and as a designer in general, sleep is a commodity, and as I type this, I realize that I have been up for nearly 24 hours (I am currently at 20.5 hours).

... lost train of thought... darn you sleep and your ability to keep me focused.

Anywho, the reason that I have been up into the wee hours is that I am currently working on finalizing my portofolio... one thing that is supposed to capture my essence as a designer, my hard work for the past four years, all of the sleepless nights that have made up my education... will I make the cut?

How do you take a mind full of thoughts, energy, and creativity and capture it on 20 pages of paper?

With my upcoming interview with Abercrombie and Fitch, I can only hope that I have been able to achieve this.

So, I guess it's important to never judge a book by it's cover, but if you make a book full of pictures, make sure they rock. (Oh 2:30, you have drained me of my wisdom)

Until another day my fellow bloggers and followers! Good morning and sweet dreams.

Senior Design Sneak Peak

Hey World!

I have promised to include some of my work on this blog, so I thought I would start with a sneak peak of my senior collection.

I'm not going to go into detail, I just want to spark some interest... the full collection will show April 2nd, 2011 at the Annual Purdue Fashion Show.

Happy Weekend and Boiler Up!

Life's Big "IF"s

So among many things that I think about on a daily basis, here is one of them... why do women want men so badly??

This might seem like a silly question, but I'm serious...

Especially at this age (a pivotal point for most college relationships... stick with it or fly solo?) why are we so preoccupied with the concept of being with someone else? So here are some potential theories...

1. Companionship, but you know what I say to that... you are never as alone as you may feel... take a look around you, there is a world full of people to be met!

2. Love. Okay, so I don't have a GREAT way to shake this one off, because I recognize that "boyfriend" love is different than the love for your first goldfish or even your family members, but it will come with time... sometime, someday it will be there and just think of how exciting it will be when you finally find/have it.

3. Everyone else is doing it! This has NEVER been a good excuse to do anything... ever.

... and honestly, I could come up with A TRILLION more reasons why people at this age, particularly women want men so much, but I have one really good reason why I don't right now in my life...

TIME.

The one word that we can't really define, the one thing that only retrospect can truly enlighten. I want time to discover myself, love myself, explore the world, meet a million people and then... only then will I be ready to REALLY want a manfriend.

So I am leaving you with two of my favorite phrases to end this relatively serious post, on which seems to be a relatively ordinary day...

Time takes time.

In order to love someone else you must love yourself first, so that means always taking care of number 1 before adding a 2 to the equation.

Still aren't convince? I guarantee that this video will convince you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMFpZRDYha4

Just Another Wednesday

This is my first post, like a first impression, I can't take this one back...

I wanted to start this blog to share my thoughts and my creations with the world. I plan on posting a little bit of everything and a whole lot of little nothings. So here goes nothing!

As the buzz from the Valentine's day candy is beginning to fade and the ginormous piles of show are melting outside, I'm beginning to sense the shift of attitude that always comes this time of year...Why do we let piles of snow and cold temps drive our attitudes? Winter is just a part of life, and I for one am glad that we have winter.

(Example that Winter and ice are awesome... Absolut Icebar London)

Reasons why I love Winter:

1. Don't have to worry about sweating constantly.
2. Gives you an excuse to drink a lot of warm drinks, AKA Hot Chocolate or anything that comes in a Starbucks cup.
3. Permits an adequate amount of laziness.
4. It falls between semesters, so you have a lot more free time and if you are working, at least there is Christmas.
5. Ugs actually have a purpose besides looking ugly... Point, Set and Match.

Moral of the Story, love Winter and it will love you back.

I have recently been making a whole boatload of these little truffle things that are super yummy and I thought I would just share the recipe with the world, or at least you.

CAUTION: Super easy.

Ingredients

Package of Oreos
Package of Cream Cheese
Bag o' Chocolate Chips

Crush oreos, mix with cream cheese. Roll mixture into balls and then dip them in the melted chocolate chips. For best results freeze and eat!

Happy Wednesday!
